Our Obama stock went fast. Very fast. So here is the re-release of this awesome hope and change inspired line by AJ. We will be reprinting limited runs of Captain Obama in WHITE, and Pop Goes Obama in WHITE, as well as O8ama in WHITE with black ink! These shirts should become available at the end of next week. Thank you all for your continued support! Continue to check back often for more updates on re-releases of new color ways and styles!
This shirts will also be available at Storyville Austin and Storyville Baton Rouge! Pick one of these up before November 4th!
Last night we went down to The Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz’s Open Screen Night and brought along a movie starring Jake Dronkers. He got 2nd place and the honor of being called a “Bad Ass” in front of a theatre full of people. That’s pretty much all a thirteen year old could ask for.
Thanks to Josh, Gabe and Whitney for coming out to support us and our kooky movie.
Producers from Emmy award winning television show, “Friday Night Lights” came by Storyville Austin the other day and picked up 6 Thriving Ink shirts for the shows wardrobe! If you watch the show, be sure to keep your eyes open for Thriving Ink tee’s in the 2009 season! Friday Night Lights is hailed as one of the top ten shows of 2006 by Time magazine and Entertainment Weekly, the critically acclaimed drama also received 2006 honors from the American Film Institute for Television Program of the Year and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award. So exciting!
Yesterday me and the fam headed downtown to South Congress to check out Storyville’s booth which was selling Thriving Ink shirts! We got to chat with Josh and enjoy the sunshine!
We spotted Josh’s friend Edson wearing Radical Rambunction by Ken Marshall!
We then headed down to Guadalupe to visit Gabe and Meredith at the shop.
Two of our awesome artists, Ken Marshall and Ryan Alamillo were interviewed by Threadless. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Threadless, they are a website that allows the community to choose designs from a huge pool of artists and the chosen ones get printed. Pretty cool. Ken Marshall has had his designs printed 3 times and Ryan Alamillo, 1 time! You can read their interviews here… Ken’s Interview and Ryan’s Interview.
The three-day Austin City Limits Music Festival kicks off today down at Zilker Park. Huge names in music will be converging on our beautiful city like The Foo Fighters, Beck, The Mars Volta! Personally I would kill to see Jenny Lewis or N.E.R.D. I have a feeling one of the best places to catch a glimpse of rock royalty will be down on South Congress… Our good friends over at Storyville (www.wearyourstory.com) were lucky enough to snag a booth next to Vespaio. They will be selling Thriving Ink tees as well as a bunch of other awesome tees from local artists. If you stop by tell them Thriving Ink sent you! This weekend may be one of the last chances to snag the first-run of Obama tees. Make sure you get them while we still have them! See you around town!
As I watch the weather forecast, and see that we will have a 92 degree day, it seems as though life is pretty normal for all of us here in Austin. But, it is not. We have thousands of evacuees here from Galveston, fleeing from Hurricane Ike.
The Red Cross is doing the best they can to accommodate the evacuees, who are all sleeping on the floor, some without sleeping bags or bedding. The families have no idea when they will be able to go home, and if they do, what they will find.
Were doing our best to help out any way we can. We initiated a canned food drive in our neighborhood and collected around 350 lbs of food in one day! Nice people here in Austin. We are going to head down to the shelters today to see what else we can do to help out.
How can you help? Get on the Red Cross website,www.redcross.org and donate anyway you can!
For those of you who missed out on Obama’s speech last night to close out the Democratic National Convention, you missed a goodie. You can watch the speech here. Purchase your Obama t-shirt from Thriving Ink’s Aj Dimarucot. Get them before they sell out! Click here to check them out!
BARACK OBAMA. The Democratic Presidential candidate. To Thriving Ink, Barack is not so much a politician, but more of an inspirational statesman. Barack has stood by his views, even when they were very unpopular positions (the war, healthcare, etc.). He stands for change, like, actual change, which from my point of view, is exactly what our country needs. Pro energy and environmental conservation, makes him an ideal man to bring about change in this country.
To show our support for Barack, we have printed a line titled “Hope is Dope” by artist AJ Dimarucot. Thriving Ink will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Gawad Kalinga, an organization near AJ’s heart that is dedicated to alleviating poverty in the Philippines.
