BARACK OBAMA. The Democratic Presidential candidate. To Thriving Ink, Barack is not so much a politician, but more of an inspirational statesman. Barack has stood by his views, even when they were very unpopular positions (the war, healthcare, etc.). He stands for change, like, actual change, which from my point of view, is exactly what our country needs. Pro energy and environmental conservation, makes him an ideal man to bring about change in this country.
To show our support for Barack, we have printed a line titled “Hope is Dope” by artist AJ Dimarucot. Thriving Ink will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Gawad Kalinga, an organization near AJ’s heart that is dedicated to alleviating poverty in the Philippines.

Our house has never been a bigger mess than it is right now. It looks like a garment mill blew up in our entryway and splattered all over the living room, kitchen and hallways (and then some artists put designs on the blank threads). Great. But to be perfectly honest, I’ve never been so stoked. Everything is happening and my family (including my gigantic extended family) is all going crazy, but in a good way.

Whatever, this industry from what I have seen so far is insane, and I don’t plan on, and sure hope it doesn’t settle down.
The past few weeks have been the busiest of my life. Daily shipments, late night meetings, 13 hour photo shoots and never-ending inventory has brought us to where we are right now. Nice. I can only hope that we get even busier. Although we are as busy as we are, my family has managed to stay intact. I am pretty sure that any other family would have either murdered each other or split up to opposite ends of the world by now.
This is only the beginning of what will probably be a BIG adventure, but without people like my family, my cousin JD, my girl Zoe and our artists, I’m not sure we’d survive it.
Stay tuned and enjoy,
matty d
